I actually use Red sea, API and Seachem. I like to cross check my results When one looks a little fishy (LOL now that was funny right there)

Umm randy “what’s a test kit” and how long does it take for a live rock to double in size?
Chuckle, I find that my LR doubles in size every 24 hours, and of course I dose everything without testing anything!

How do you find the accuracy of the API for calcium and dKH?

Actually I like API for both but they are both subject to exactly when the number of drops changes the test water to the related colors and that becomes subjective to your eye

Our refug is shut down, another bump in the road, looking at the tank reveled an abundance of air bubbles that in its self is not bad except for ascetics. Now the only way this can happen is through the refug. Once I shut down the refug the tank started to clear. My limited mental capacity tells me that the super oxygenated water is coming from water being dumped into the sump from the refug as apposed to the water being introduced under the water line. So it’s off to Home Depot tomorrow for an elbow and I will pipe the effluent water below the water line in the sump. IT NEVER ENDS

Just think, if it was easy, we would never be on page 5 with this thread? Did you get a chance to change the plumbing? And did it solve the microbubble issue?

anything to add to my UV thread ?
Whoa! When did we hit page 6? Must have missed it. Sorry to say my friend that I agree with Beth on this one. It's always been my opinion that the use of a UV sterilizer in a personal reef aquarium is more detrimental than beneficial because of the indiscriminant zapping of all bacteria/microfauna that pass through the sterilizer. Just can't see that killing all that microfauna (which included coralline algae spores as well) is a good thing. JMO

Let there be LIGHT well I finally received the lighting for the JoeRanugeum. And I must say it’s a real nice unit. Totally self contained I was going to use the old pvc pipe trick as a stand off to keep it off the top of the refug but the bulbs have a plastic protective shield on them so I will just place the unit on the refug and see how it goes.

Nice
. Make sure you put a thermometer in the fuge ~ those PCs can really heat up the water. Especially when they are sitting right on top of the water. I would recommend some legs myself.

The bulb is now 4 inches above the water level. I will get the caulerpa ready to go in and place the light on top and take a pic. I had purchased a thermometer a while ago to monitored temp in the refug

Our baby isn’t she beautiful? Ok so she will never win a beauty contest but she is ours your and mine. The temp is running around 78 degrees cooler them the 82 I run my tank at. I believe that’s due to the fact that it is so close to the floor and the ambient temp of my home is 76 I will replace the ¾ in pvc stand offs with ½ in tomorrow to bring the light lower and see how that effects the temp. I will also test my nitrates and monitor them each day for reduction as well as keeping an eye on some hair algae I have in my DT. I do not think it can compete with the caulerpa for nutrients. Next step is to cut out the bottom the opening and fabricate new doors giving us a view of the plenum and its activities
