you know...my dad...never liked you....
is from Caddy Shack, in the bar - when Chevy Chase told Ted Night "no" to golfing with him.
the "mistaken" part is something my dad always says..
Adobe photoshop7 I presume..

HEY TODD....
YOU MEAN ATTACH THE FLEXI-TUBES(SPIRAL HOSES)?
TO THE PVC PIPE THAT IS GOING TO SLIP INTO THE BALL VALVE
...CORRECT?
IF YES, THEN JUST SILICONE THAT ALSO...THOSE
SPIRAL HOSES DO NOT EVEN NEED TO BE SILICONED
BECAUSE THEY ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO
PULL OFF OF PVC ANYHOW...BUT IF YOU FEEL BETTER...
BY ALL MEANS SILICONE IT....I SILICONED MINE...
ANYMORE QUESTIONS...FEEL FREE TO ASK....HTH
REGARDS...

the clear tubes is what I'm saying and I think you were talking about too...
just don't want to confuse it with those pool hoses. those are different.
sounds like a plan then. Thanks for the help Marinerock. I'm sure I'll have more questions down the road.

Todd,
This may be too late. Make sure that the location of the coupler is accessible. Just think about in the future if you have to remove the coupler. Do you access to it and can you get a wrench to it. If it is stuck between the wall and the aquarium it will not do you much good.

HEY TODD....
I THOUGHT YOU MEANT THE SPIRAL HOSES....
YOU SHOULDNT NEED TO SILICONE THE CLEAR TUBING...
IF YOU CAN GET THE BARBED END W/ A SLIP TO
GO INTO THE BALL VALVE...YOU WILL BE SET....
TRY YOUR LOCAL FISH STORE BECAUSE EVERYTIME I
TRIED TO FIND THEM IN HD OR LOWES THEY NEVER
HAD IT....
WHATEVER SIZE CLEAR TUBING YOU ARE USING...
THAT IS THE SIZE OF THE BARBED END...3/4"=3/4"BARB
YOU WILL HAVE TO PUSH THE TUBING ON WITH FORCE BUT
ONCE ITS ON...ITS NOT COMING OFF....
A LITTLE TRICK IF THATS WHAT YOUR GONNA DO...
GET A CUP OF WATER...PUT IN MICROWAVE FOR 1 MINUTE...
DIP THE END OF THE HOSE IN THE WATER FOR 5-10 SECONDS AND THEN PUSH IT ONTO THE BARBED END...ITS EASY THEN...
IF THATS THE WAY YOU WANT TO DO IT...THEN THE SLIP W/THE
BARBED END WILL BE SILICONED INTO THE BALL VALVE AND
THEN YOU JUST CONTINUE FROM THERE...
REGARDS...

first is the metal hose clamp. you do not want to ever use these where they are submerged, as they will rust, unless you pay rediculous prices for stainless steel ones, which im still wary of.

here is a plastic hose clamp, the photo is terrible because my batteries on my camera are too low after the last pic to get a photo with a flash. at any rate, the plastic clamp is shaped more like the letter "C" with teeth on one end and notches on the other end to accept the teeth, kinda like a zip tie works. hard to explain, but if you ask for a locking plastic hose clamp at any place that sells pipe and hoses they will be able to get ya one for like 30 cents.

NOTE:
the steriline is shown lengthwise, but the refugium is turned widthwise.
that's a DSB in the tank (gonna shoot for 4") and refugium (2")

at the store for about $600 or so. it's a tool used for web graphics. I've been using it for about 6 years. it's part of my job.
you could use ms-paint or powerpoint to whip up something similar...

taken a few days ago... since then, I built a shelf for the refuge. still need to install the bulkheads on the containers...hopefully today.

Did you use PVC primer? If you did , sweet job.
This may be stating the obvious but try and put the bulkheads on the containers in an area that is as vertical as possible. I would recommend installing the bulkheads first and the plumbing to the bulkheads second.
Still early so I am not writing clearly

I cemented only to the ball valves, so once I do install the bulkhead, I'll fit the pvc around it...after. gotcha.
