Post your water readings including pH, salinity, nitrates, ammonia, nitrites.

oh and i did just clean out my filtert so that might be causing the slightly poor water conditions.

Those readings indicate where your problem is. You have ammonia and nitrites, your pH is too low and your salinity is too high. Why are you having these problems? Is that usual?

the reason my ammonia and nitrites ar high is because i cleand my HOB filter. i have always thought that the salinity at 28 ppt is on the money, why has no one told me this i have anounced that thisa is what i keep it at befor. and i redid the ph test and its right about 8.3 i think i did it wrong the first time. this not what my tank is normaly at but when i cleand my filter the bacteria count was low so it takes a few days to get back to normal.

Cleaning a fish tank should not result in spikes in ammonia nor nitrite. What filters do you have, water circulation, live rock, sand?

I would work on getting a protein skimmer. It is very likely that your tank lacks good circulation throughout the system so ensuring that it does have adequate circulation will go a long way.

In the meantime, do some small water changes daily (that is not disruptive to the fish) to see if you can get water conditions back to a better place. Hopefully, improving water conditions will resolve the problem for you damsel.
