Since this is a thread about the coral I'm soon to get, I have some questions. I have a 29g (real 29g, not biocube.) I'm going to purchase in two weeks:
Green Leather Toadstool
Gold Crowned Toadstool
Hammer Coral
Rics
Xenia
at least those, I have currently a frogspawn and various shrooms. How should I seperate these guys? And can toadstools be in sand? I have spots for them on rocks already, but was curious if they can be on the sandbed.

Toadstool in the back and a yellow in the front. I put both on the rock. They close up immediately when a crab or snail touches them and the sand is where most of my cleanup crew traffic is. I've never seen them on the sand at the lfs, only rock.

I used an aquastik coral glue. It comes in a bar and looks like a twinkie. you cut a piece of it off and mix it. Then apply to the underside of the coral and stick it where you want it. Works well.

The middle of the stalk attached itself to a rock slightly higher up and its folding in a weird way. The polyps are about 3-4 inches in length. If it doesnt split, i might frag it for a trade.

Email me at cparsons48@insightbb.com if ya decide to do it! Thanks!

tank watch,
What kind of leather is that? Man I LOVE IT!! If you ever want to frag it, let me know, I can trade candy cane or something.

I had to majorly trim mine th last time. I set it on its top and cut a complete 2 inch circle with a knife cause it was so top heavy. Usually i just nip a hunk off the largest overhang and glue to a rock.

What exactly does fragging mean? I see a lot of people saying it. Does it mean dividing it into smaller pieces? Also when trimming a coral you just cut it with a knife? Where do you cut it and this doesnt hurt the coral?

Yes, kind of a forced propagation. The only thing that I've fragged is a mushroom (so far). I used a razor blade to the very base of the stalk. It probably hurts the coral a lot (like a deep cut or breaking your arm) but the pain is only temporary most of the time and it will heal itself after a while.

this makes everyone who does this sound like monsters... besides, i have heard a lot of ethical debates about whether fish can feel pain (im in college and have taken a few philosophy classes) so i doubt corals feel 'pain'.... at least in our definition of the word,...

OK, so I don't truly know if a coral can feel, but it doesn't look very pleasant after its cut. So I guess I just assumed that they would feel something considering they recoil whenever touched or cut.
