If I am not mistaken they are called Coralife Power Centers.
I've read a lot of bad things about them (reliability), besides, they are a $5 power strip and (2) $5 timers sold for $40. For $40, you can buy several power strips and 2 digital timers for 10 bucks each.

Well okay then 30 bucks. It's still not a great deal IMO.
I just don't like idea because if a timer stops working, you have a dead unit, where if you use separate units, if something fails you just replace the bad part.

i have one i'd love to get rid of actually. It doesnt allow the flexibility of on/off i'm looking for. the only issue i originally had with regular timers was the inability to best coordinate the on/off but i'm not too worried about that anymore.

yeah i saw those things at ***** (yuck) and i havent seen them at my lfs (which i like) so i would say avoid it and throw down the 20 bucks, and buy some strips and timers. i got a timer at walmart and it works great ($5) but it isnt grounded :[ oh well , i still like it

well, i've seen other threads like this. same outcome. although i wouldn't ever buy one if they worked great....cause i agree with SCSInet. all in one units or whatever it may be, won't allow you to swap parts or peices out.

I agree I like my 3$ power strips with my 11$ digital timers with a battery backup. even automaticly adjusts for daylight savings time. (can set up to either 14 or 28 different "events" (on off switching per week) plus you can set it for random (havent found a use for that feature but I could do it if I wanted to) thats like ten times the versatility of the coralif power center for half the price. and like mentioned before.... if something breaks I just replace the one part not the whole unit.

Run away from the coralife! mine is going back today, had it 3 weeks and never could get it to work. I had someone else take a go at it in case I was being blonde about it but same results, doesn't work.

Stephish, I'm having trouble to get mine to automaticlly turn on the lights. Doesn't work for me either. I thought that I was being stupid, now I can take pride in nowing it was a piece of junk instead of me just being stupid.

I had one......once. I smelled something, like wires cooking :scared: . Felt over everything in my house, never thinking my power strip under my fish tanks, they all have smoke detectors next to them.
Of course my fiancé checks the fish tanks and finds the power strip is hot to the touch
.
I unplugged it and everything and threw the strip into the pool.
Now all my striped are fire shields strips with shock shield outlet adaptors and 1 foot extension liberators for my box style plugs
.
I love esu/coralife but this was a black eye for them.
If you do a search for digital timer strip outlet, you will find the ones coralife uses but not with the coralife logo on it.

I have one.... it is a dual timer and only one of the timers works reliably... the other gets stuck on or off all the time...

Can you post a picture of that... I also like the idea of a smoke detector by the fish tank electrical hook-up.

Make that 2.....no problems with my dual timer...save alot of space compared to bulky separate timers.
