Probably more just a personal choice although the koraila does away with the suction cups and uses an eternal magnet. I personally like the rotating deflector and have them attached to my retunes into my DT

I put the deflector on a penguin and I love it so much better then my Koralia! It makes a current in my tank like the ocean from spinning the water in all directions. Im thinking about getting rid of my Koralia and getting another penguin with the deflector!

Do you have a picture ?? or can you explain how you mounted it ?? Sounds cool.

I have both Koralia and maxi jet. I like them both...BUT to answer your original question...the Koralis disperses water from the whole front, not just straight out...geez..lol...does that make sense???

The exclusive Hydor design and technology guarantee a continuous and powerful water flow, which can be directed freely thanks to the special sphere-shaped connection to the exclusive combination suction cup + magnet support.

I haven't seen the hydor one......but just like computers...they always improve on the design. They sound great!
Maxi jet I use as a utility pump for waterchanges... peronally hate them..they never stay put and I have even tried fish line to secure the things...they shoot a jetstream and Korlia has a wave like flow in a wider direction.
I just use the Koralia power heads...

Basically the unite comes with multiple PVC adapters and it just slips over the existing effluent part of your power head or PVC tubing as I have. It has an internal gear and impeller the water flow turns the impeller and gear rotating the unit giving you multi directional flow

Do not get confused I have them on my DT return lines but as Red said you can also put them on powerheads

Yes it rotates 360 degrees so you get circular water motion its like holding a hose and making a circle with the outflow of water
Totally interesting...Would it be big enough to fit over a Koralia? It looks like it is just for Maxi jets and your PVC returns..
