You talk to a bunch of Snow Birds with the money to buy 2nd homes in Florida and assume that is an accurate portrayal of the health care system? Fair enough... not much more i can say to that...

some are snow birds but the majority are people on vacation hear from other countries. and the snowbirds that i do talk to, i ask them this question everytime " why dont you just move to florida instead of going back and forth all the time". ill give you one guess what the reason is....... thats right, the health care blows in this country and they dont want to lose the health care they have...... you can try to talk me out of my position for ever and ill still believe what i hear personally from real people talking to me face to face over the media.
sorry.... so you go ahead and have you mind filled with lies and edited tapes of inteviews but ill go with option B and believe the face to face conversations that i have with real people instead of the television in the entertainment center.

Just to clarify; I've been to Canada and England and several countries in Europe. I'm not getting all of my information just from "edited tapes of interviews".
Socialized medicine leads to waiting lines, lower wages for medical personel, shortages in staffing, less research, and an overall decrease in quality of care. But hey, at least it is free.... except for the high taxes used to pay for the inefficient system.

I'm pretty sure you made this up; If not, I feel really sorry for our future that 75% of Americans don't understand what a budget is. Maybe these people can stop eating out every night, get rid of their pets, cancel their full cable subscriptions, stop buying brand new cars, and instead invest this money. It doesn't take much to put aside each paycheck to end up with a million dollars on retirement. I shouldn't have to take more from my hard earned money to support those that can't control their spending and work for a better job.
I'm with journeyman on this one. The government has no business in socialized healthcare, and last I checked the Constitution does not grant free healthcare to everyone.

Canadian population -33,390,141
U.S. population--301,139,947
U.S. average household income--$81400
Canadian average household income--59,000 roughly
HMMMM....and government should provide free healthcare why?
Both countries have the same amount of doctors per capita roughly as well...so you can expect the same things that go on in Canada to go on here.

Oh, and while I am at it, I lived in Minnesota for a long time. Canadaians used to come across the border just so the could see a doctor sooner regarding "specialist" treatments. Sure there is no waiting list for seeing you family doctor for the flu or regular check up, but if you have cancer or heart problems, they have a wait list and if they have the money they come to the U.S....if not they wait and possibly die for lack of treatment.

There is NO BAN on stem cell research.....
Health care reform? We have the greatest helath care in the world. You may not like the cost of it, but we have overall the greatest system the world has ever seen. If you believe socialized medicine works then take a better look at England, Canada, France, etc. Do you want to wait in line 6 months to see a Dr.? Do you want to have to get the government's permission to get an X-ray?
Do you really believe that humans are not the cause of Global Warming?
Also yes there is a ban on stem cell research. There is a federal Restriction that doesn't allow stem cell research. It is the result of G.W.B.'s moral dilema.
How can you say we don't need health care reform.....Reform does not mean socialization it simply means the system must be changed so that we do not have to pay 400-600 bucks a month. Maybe to reform healthcare we must also have to reform the insurance companies as well so they do not lobby politicians to pad their pockets.....I don't know.

* I don't know what is causing it. I suspect the sun is going through a warming phase since other planets in the solar system are warming. I REFUSE to believe we are somehow polluting Saturn's climate...
*There is NOT a ban on stem cell research. There is a ban on federal funds being used for embryonic stem cell research. By the way, can you point to any significant research that has lead to any successful treatment or medicine that has come from embryonic stem cell research? As far as I know, there has not been any treatments after 20 years of research...
*Why do you have to pay 400-600 a month? The truth is, you don't. If you want insurance then you make monthly payments. Now, with socialized or a "reform" we will ALL be paying, monthly in higher taxes for poorer quality helath care. That is not a good trade off. Health care is a private matter. It is not the government's responsibility to be a safety net for every American. For the needy, sure. But not as a whole.

Journeyman is correct about the stem cells. You can get unlimited private funding, but no federal funding.
As far as the insurance industry goes...40%, on average, of your premium is to pay for fruadulent claims. If we were able to reduce the number of abuses the cost would decrease dramatically. The problems with our system come from abuses, not an inherently flawed system. If we switched to something else would the abuse still happen? Personally I think so. If the state paid for health care the wealthy would still get first dibs because they can afford to bride their way in (if they so choose. Not saying all wealthy people are crooks). I'm not saying I have the answers, but I do know the problem is much greater in scope than has been presented here.

You asked me about global warming....
This is a forum to discuss various topics. If you post something that is incorrect should everyone else simply ignore it?
The "aquarium" topics are often hot topics that are debated. Don't take offense when folks disagree with ya around here. If you believe you are correct back it up.

I was waiting to see on what issues you agree with the republican party, because to me sounds like you are a liberal and have never voted republican.
