Ok....On the sump where the skimmer is placed what is the baffle height? I agree with Corey about getting rid of 1 of the overflow boxes and utilizing just 1 and bringing both drain lines to the skimmer section, but splitting 1 of them to feed the fuge......I like the idea of feeding the fuge back via the bulkhead to the return section. Not truly following why your getting or seeing the evaporation issue where the skimmer is....That water level should be somewhat consistent IMO.

Hey Corey i wasn't knocking your drawing, I think it is a great idea and it will work. I guess he doesn't have enough room for both under his stand, the fuge might look good outside the tank. I guess you are right about the bubbles from the skimmer.
Al, I know you weren't bud. Actually my drawing isn't very accurate anyway. It wasn't untill he posted the full shot of the sump with the fuge lit up that I could see the baffles in the tank. They are pretty short and since the water level is so high I can see how the whole thing would fluxuate from evaporation. It would probably be a slow drop but a drop non the less. I'm actually thinking if it were me I'd switch the sump around. Use the small section which has the return as the place where the drain water comes in and then move the skimmer to the middle sectioin leaving the larger section for a return. I'd also make the baffles on both ends higher and raise the skimmer up on a stand if need be.
ppanthrah75: I'm just throwing some thoughts around here for you to try to give you some ideas. But so far, that is what I'm thinking I would do in your shoes.

You were asking what size for the fuge return to the sump return - what will the flow rate be. A 1" line will safely do 600 GPH. Do you have a source for bulkheads?

If you're asking about putting it in the return sections than I personally wouldn't, but you could. But no I don't see any harm really in keeping things just like they are but just doing the baffle work like you said. As, Al had stated you can figure on upto 600gph through a 1" drain. A 2" drain would do upto 2400GPH since it has four times the area within the pipe. So I would think at least a 1.5" drain or a 2". Perhaps dual 1.25"s??? I wouldn't go any smaller than two 1" lines for your size tank.

Al if you check out ThatPetPlace they carry those gray lines in either 4' or 6'. I was down last week and personally eyed them on the shelf.....

I'd use 1.5" on the return....2" is ungodly......

Cool....Good luck at finding the bulkheads at HD....You might want to call a specialty plumbing place....You'd have better luck there. Not a common stock item for HD.
Al I checked TFP website, and can't find them in the wet/dry section.....I don't know the exact name of them other than drain hose, but I will call them in the morning and tell them exactly where their located in the store, and have them get me a item number and price for you.....

I see you made some bulheads with threaded elbows and male adaptors. I have used them before, I meant to tell you that last night. Looks good.
