im looking at doing the 2 refugium/sumps on my 180 gallon tank, what was the problem when u did this and why does everyone seem to want to tie the 2 refugiums together?

This is an old thread but the goal really was to increase filtration and water volume capacity. In some situations folks find it more practical to utilize multiple smaller tanks instead of maybe one large one for sumps with refugiums.

I was using 2 separate pumps and overflow and they would not drain and fill simultaneously so I joined the two and used one pump and one overflow. I've since torn this down and now have this
