I went in my ***** and I stopped to look at the fish. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't putting a picasso trigger with a clown fish wrong? The trigger was chasing them around biting them and raming them. I told the person who was working there, and she was like, oh well.(no fish experience what so ever). I was ready to cry, I would have bought the trigger or all the clowns, but I didn't have the money.

I have seen similar things, a large clown (maroon, tomato) could probably hold its own with small triggers, but clowns will probably get beat up. Just not a good practice.

LOL clownfish1452. I do the same thing. I'll move sick fish into empty tanks, or a QT tank, if they even have one. I usually get caught doing it and they are mad, but then I talk to the manager and explain and they end up thanking me. I feel like a deputy or something. I just have to take matters into my own hands!

You guys usually have bad reports on ***** but i do have to defend the one in my area. There they have a few individuals that they know what they are doing in the aquatic area and seem to keep it as straight as they can in an setting like *****. ;)

The thing is supply and demand if you dont buy from them and rally others then practices like this can be stoped. Even though there may be one or two good ones there are still hundreds of terrible ones. just my .02

I wish these places would hire people that know what they are doing. Some may do this but I think most places would just pay someone minimum wage to come sweep the floor.

Sorry, I"m trashing on *****. I am trying to get a job there and fix the place up. They do have some guys who know alot about tanks, but sometimes they are just stupid. I think a strike about ***** is a bit severe.

man, this one ***** i went to sucks, they mixed up all the clowns in one 25 gallon tank and all you see is them fighting with each other! same with dwarf angels, fighting fighting, you think they would notice that the fish are constantly attacking each other....

The fish I cycled my tank with was purchased at *****. He lived through the cycle. Then I decided to add 20# of live rock.......he lived through that too. I recently added 25 more pounds of live rock......he survived that too. I guess if you can survive at ***** you can survive anything.

I think, in general, the "chain" petstores are worse than the mom and pop shops. But again, I think it depends on the store itself.
There are 2 Petcos near me. One i wouldn't buy a fish from if I had to, but the other one is pretty good. The fish are happy and well cared for (not bullied either)... aggressives to themselves. There is also ONE guy (yes, only one, lol) who knows an awful lot. I've gotten some good advise from him.
I guess the bottom line is, whatever pet store you go into, if it sucks, then don't do business there!

I went into the one near me when I was first setting up my tank, and I needed some base rock. I asked the guy if they had any, and he gave me a puzzled look. I started explaining what base rock was, and he told me that he didn't think it was a good idea to put any in my tank. He then directed me to their plastic corals section. That's quality.

I went into ***** today. And there was a dead angel in the tank with a really big hermit crab. And the chick in the department just said, if they die it is food for the others. OMG! I had a talk with the manager. He is the one who gave me the mandarin for $5.00 when I told him that it was going to die. I spoke with him today and he is going to work with his employees. I almost told him that I would train them. We'll see how they do.
