Propagation of Xenia

Normally it wouldn't take long. Once they start to bud maybe another week or two before the "arms" have really developed. After that the stalk will start to grow. It may take longer since i will be moving the entire tank in a week or so. I'm sure everything will be a little stressed from that. Hopefully everything will go pretty smooth. I'll keep this post up-to-date.

I sell Red Sea for $1 per stalk.
My Heteroxenia is a totally different story though. A single stalk can have 200 - 300 polyps.

Nope. I don't ship Xenia. Each stalk usually has 5 - 10 Polyps on it. Mine are just attached to reef rubble though, not a nice piece if Figi. That would make a big difference in price.

OK, here is the last installment for this thread. This pic was taken on 8-3-04. You can definitely see the "arms" growing out at the top now. It shouldn't be long before it looks like a miniture version of the parent colony.

Hey Scubasteve!
Thanks again for the frags, obviously you know what you're doing there. I keep meaning to take pics, but both frags have lots of new "arms" growing and they are doing very well. Hopefully I'll be able to frag them myself some day.
Thanks again!
Sam
