Protein Skimmer Advice

I have 2 Seaclone protein skimmers...1 is the 150, and 1 is the 100. These are in my 225g tank. My 100 is acting up (air coming from motor) I bought it used and it was working fine...My question is this: Will the 150 skimmer be enough for this tank, or ( if I can not fix) should I definitely replace the 100 with another?

is there a problem witht the seaclone skimmers in general. i just bought the 150 version for my 55g cuz the last on i had pooped out after being in use for 5 years. so i just bought the same one.
is it just not as good as other brands as far ass pulling stuff out or what?
i bought it cuz it wasnt a bad price, and was rated to almost 3 times what i need
thanks
sorry for sorta steeling the thread

In principle and on paper they are okay skimmers. In actuality they suck.
Put up with them at first becuase that was what was available. Once you try a better one though you will be convinced.

For a little more you can get an octopus hob and that is a lot better. I modded the crap out of a seaclone and it worked a heck of a lot better, but it is no comparison to a good skimmer. If it don't stink, it ain't workin'. If it ain't dark, it ain't workin'

I added an a wooden airstone and I cut the riser tube a bit too. I did a few other small things like tape up the o ring.

Just google seaclone mod. You will get a lot of good mods you can do to it. But the best mod you can do to it is get replace it with another skimmer lol

as others have said they work just not as effecient as other skimmers. i run a euro reef rs-135
picked it up on craigslist for 20 dollars. magnet was bad in the pump. bought a new magnet and a gatevalve so i have $100 in the skimmer. and she skimms constant all the time.
another thing to keep in mind your high dollar skimmers work on getting the bubble size very small.
but i can definately understand not wanting to get rid of a new skimmer.

Personally, I have found that even airdriven skimmers are efficient, if you have a good airstone. However, after about 2 days of decent skimming, the wooden airstone gets to be gunked up and the bubbles progressively get larger.
