Do a search on this site for curing. I think Mudplayer wrote a great piece about it.
Don't buy the hype. If rock is shipped to you, it must be considered "uncured" due to die off.

i'm jealous of you all, i've been to every lfs i can find in the boston area and the cheapest i've seen around here is $8.00lb....some stores as high as $12. ....don't suppose any of you are from around boston that could recommend a good deal around here

come down to providence..... 5.99 a lb. Cured and very good looking pieces. Nice pinks, greens and purple algea blooms. I am getting some this weekend to top off my tank.
I have seen some for 5.65 but not as nice and in Seekonk, MA.
Just a heads up...
