Protein skimmer

Do you guys clean your protein skimmer? If so do you guys clean the whole thing? Or is it good to leave that bacteria in it?

I think it depends on the skimmer, BUT....the cup and the neck need to be cleaned weekly (also depends on your amount of collection) and the main body 4-6 months ....(that is really what some instructions on one of mine say)

wow I have qtip sponges growing in my skimmer along with other stuff. I might clean it oneday but I procastinate way to much.

I clean my skimmer every 6-8 weeks, other than the weekly maintenance of the cup/neck/collection area. I also clean all my pumps and a good majority of tubing every 6-8 weeks.

LOL......I have no clue how on earth I would clean the body of my new Hurricone

I clean the body/neck every waterchange, and try to do the feed pump and venturi as often as possible.
