Google kalkwasser for plenty of info on how to dose. Basically you replace your evaporation loss with kalkwasser solution.

How much Xenia do you have? Is it a lot or just a small piece? Make sure there is nothing touching it. Mine is spread all over, but there are some pieces that get stung nightly by my frogspawn and by my bubble corals sweeper tentacles. Also I would recommend checking your iodine levels, and making sure you don't need to dose. They do like iodine.

i am wondering what the Calcium in this system is at?
there is some research concerning the growth rate of xenia and its direct relation to calcium levels, where reef - calcium levels may slow the growth and less calcerous conditions let them grow uninhibited.

I think this thread proves more than anything we don't really understand Xenia. Our diagnosis have been all over the map.
I'm interested in hearing other ideas.

I would suggest to check your calcium and alkalinity, if my xenia isn't right that is usually the reason.

I know right? Xenia are probably the most inconsistent livestock we can keep in his hobby!

For anyone "listening in", If you dose limewater directly into your skimmer and it goes through the pump you need to maintain the pump a lot more often. I have mine set up so I can just shut off the skimmer and pour vinegar directly into the pump and let it sit for an hour. This dissolves all of the Calcium carbonate off the impeller.

for xenia, i would really consider it one of the most enigmatic corals, and because of its strange track record, i consider it one of the hardest corals to keep.
from n00bs to Pros, some people can keep it in their tanks, and some cannot. Some people have them thriving for years, and then all of a sudden they dissappear. I have seen examples of people attempting to set up 2 or 3 'duplicate' tanks, and the xenia will only survive in one of the three exact same set ups. maybe try another frag in a year, you might have better luck.
for the kalkwasser - you are dripping it right next to the pump for the skimmer, or inside the bubble chamber somehow (which i guess would be tough to do depending on the skimer.)?

Just one small piece.
