I have 2 green ricordia mushrooms. They seem to be growing very slowly. Is this normal for ricordia?Where is the best placement for the ricordia? My green stripe mushrooms are growing and reproducing quickly. Thanks!!

most people say medium light but I find they like high light also as long as they are acclimated to it, mine is about 8 inches from around 500watts of lighting and looks great.

Do you have metal halides or vho? I have Vho. How long did it take yours to grow to that size. I sure wish mine was that big!!!

Sorry to confuse you its not 8 inches around its eigh inches from my lights its maybe three inches across when fully open but it was only 2 when I got it 3 or four weeks ago. I think its starting to split as well.
my friend matt keeps his under 250watt mh lights at a distance of ten inches (he propagates for research at the university)

I like ricordea, and find the florida to be slower growoing than the yuma. My preference is florida, and they do like higher light levels than a shroom normally does. They do well under PC or other florescent lights like HO or VHO. You can tell if they are lacking sufficient light as they strt to stretch upwards. If they lay flat on the substrate they are happy.

I love ricordea and they are nearly impossible to come by up here in maine, there are only a couple of LFS that carry anything resembleing a "selection" and that selection is usually only the run of the mill hum drum stuff, which is good because they buy off me to get the better stuff, but it limits me to ordering on line and I hate buying anything sight unseen. and the prices holy crap $30 for a single green ric. around here crazy aint it.

It is the ricordia that saltwaterfish.com sells. I believe it is a florida. Thanks for your response!
