ok i am planning to set up a 75g tank and i want to kno what kind of lighting i need. i want to raise anemones and mabey sps and just other normal corals. what wattage of light do i need. im planning on metal halides but if there is something better then ket me know. i o have a budget of about 250 dollars.
any suggestions?????

Nothing IMO is better than MH lighting...it is said that T5s are equal but they don't create that shimmer of light dancing in the water effect. JMO

for a 75G you could get away with 150's...for $250...IDK...start looking at some used sites....like the e bay and craigs...or check with any local clubs you may have available to you

Well if your not dead set on having metal halid. might I suggest the t-5 ho with SLR (single light reflector) 8x54watt, it should give you 5.7 watts per gallon. That would be good IMO.

You can hang them, so if you hang them a little higher you should be fine....I'd worry about heat...but again....hang them higher

I have 2 x 250 watts MH on my 90 gallon
JMO I think 2 x 400 watt is a little much..

but you can hang them higher can't you
here is a question for the light peeps....if you have a 400watt MH...can you put 250W bulbs in it

I am pretty sure you can;t go 250-400

That I dont know. Good question. I would like to know the answer to that.
Yea I guess you could hang it higher but wouldnt it put out a lot of heat??
 
Top
