Quick ? for ro/di owners

My parents bought me an aqua fx ro/di system. I was wondering, when you guys made your very first batch of water can you use it right away or do i have to trash like the first 10 gallon? I thought I read somewhere to trash the first __ gallons...do you guys know?

The instructions that came with mine said to run it for an hour first.

& then toss the water that was made in the first hour? We've had it one since about 5 so that's 3 hours and it's made just a lil bit of water-about 4 or 5 gallons.

Run the RO without the DI until your TDS meter reads below 20. The RO membrane is usually protected by a gel that dissolves and you don't want that stuff going through your DI.
