I just e-mailed the guy to ask if it is still there and the why's and what's of the skimmer. I am going to use a spare 20 gallon for a sump on my 75 that will slide right under my stand WITHOUT cutting a hole in it. I am hoping this skimmer will make a good addition to my system. I looked online and it looks like they retail for around $180.00.

make sure itll fit. the octopus skimmer ill be using in my 75 gallon sump is gonna just barely fit in unless i put it lengthwise.

Diameter 6" Height 22"
Footprint - 6" x 12"
Here alix, it is going in that 20 gal. This is my first atempt at a sump so a little unsure on some of the fine details.
If you prove to be helpful enough I might mail you an over frosted christmas cookie.

lol.
well the footprint of a 20L is 30x12x12, you you would have to put it in there so both the skimmer and the tank are facing lengthwise, but itll fit.

Not a bad skimmer for the price. I do like the PM redline series and ER RS skimmers better though if you just have to have a skimmer.

If it is gone, do consider an Aqua C skimmer. I performed a head-to-head test last winter with an Aqua C EV and several other popular skimmers. Understanding that everyone's systems is different, I was blown away by the Aqua C, and Jason (who owns the company) is a heck of a nice guy and always available with tips and tricks regarding the Aqua C line.
The differentiator is that fact that the Aqua C is a spray injected skimmer (a patented process), and that really does make a big difference IMHO. Having said that, many of the major brands of skimmers work well enough if you take the time to tune and adjust them. Remember, it is rare to get out-of-the-box performance with any skimmer..lots of tinkering required, but that's what we love about this hobby, right?

For more information on spray injection, here is an article I wrote for Suite101, where I am the aquarium fish feature writer.

the spray injection certaintly isn't the "differentiator" as there's a good list of needle wheels that perform just as well for the same amount of money and far greater efficiency (and thats being kind. several will smoke a EV 120-240 for less money once you add the cost of the drive pump). the "differentiator" for the EV series is it fits where they wont. dont get me wrong the EV skimmers peform well, about inline for what you'd expect in their price range but theirs nothing special or superior about the performance of their spray injection (the skimmer design overall works well. remoras/uchins use spray nozzle technology and suck). that patent is 8yrs old when downdrafts and true pump driven venturi skimmers that required huge pressure pumps were the norm. things have come along way since then.
