Raccoon in a 10g (TEMP)

Ok after finding out that my raccoon butterfly eats corals AND anemones....I am going to bring it to my (NOT SO LOCAL) fish store...Since it is the holidays and so far away, I was wondering if I put it in a 10 gallon for a week if it would be ok...I would use water from my existing tank...I do not want to cause harm to this fish..it is about 3" right now. My other option would be to seperate the tank with eggcrate, but I don't want to upset all the other fish...

OK, my not-so-expert opinion.
The 10g would be ok, for a short stay, BUT segregating in the main tank would allow your raccoon to be in a lrger volume of water. Therefore better water quality and better chance for the fish to be healthy and alive.

Do you think the eggcrate will bother the other fish though?...They won't be able to get to the other parts of tank either.

I vote for the eggcrate. Be creative, you'll find some way to make it work without disturbing the other fish.
Without great filtration and/or very frequent water changes, the fish will poison itself in so little water.

Yeah I figured that would be best....I was just trying to think of a way not to stress the other fish.

i think either way will be fine. egg crate will be cheaper if you don't have the tank and filtration for the small tank

Don't put the fish in the small tank if it is not fully cycled. Section off part of the display. Butterflies are NOT reef safe. You should have known that before purchasing him. If they do not feed at first it is often said to buy them a cheap anemone because they cannot resist them.

My butterfly eats like a pig..LOL...Takes food right from my hand so I don't think it should be hungry...You are right I SHOULD HAVE known this about the butterfly before I bought it, BUT once again I guess I asked the wrong person...Nothing I can do now...The only thing I have in the tank with the raccoon is the frag of candy cane, which it has not gone near, and the BTA, which it also has not gone near.
I am trying not to do anything with fish, equip, etc until I get suggestions from the board...thanks

My apologies if it sounded as though I was scolding you. That wasn't my intention. I was letting you know that they certainly will pick at corals. Again, I would just section off part of the tank. If you were to put a 3" fish, that does not do well with fluctuations, into an uncycled ten gallon then he may not fair so well.

I didn't take it that way...I am still learning, and I'll be the 1st to admit that, I have received some "NOT SO GOOD" advice...and I am trying to fix all of that. On the other hand, I have received a lot of good advice from this site...so thanks for that to you and everyone else.

Racoons Butterfly fish are the more the definetly not reef safe fish. I read somewhere because of their "racoon" behavior, as partly how the get their name... and racoon mammels will pretty much anything they fine.. However, they are beuitful fish.
