"Ran like an insect"

We have had our tank set up now for about 6 years. it is a 155 gallon with 220pds of live rock. I was looking at it 2 nites ago when I noticed what looked like 2 small antennas coming out from under a rock and they had a white spot on each of them. they were sort of clear in color. I kept watching and all of a sudden "it" ran out from under the rock and went into another hole.
It was about 3/4 to 1 inch long and appeared brown in color. It had a lot of legs and sort of looked like a giant copepod. It ran across the aragonite. It did not swim. It actually creeped me out!

We have also had some of our smaller fish disappear lately and i am wondering if this could be the culprit! Any ideas on what it could be??!

It did not really look like this! It seemed wider and seemed to have more legs. However it moved pretty fast so I never got a really good look.
Would these eat smaller fish! It was about 1 inch long

i take it you mean "will a mandarin eat amphipods" and the answer is yes, if they are small enoughthey wont eat them if they get too big.

Do they run and hide when the lights come on? The reason why I ask because I think I have quite a few of theses in my tank.
