they are raised in a tank, not fresh caught:
caught young and raised in tanks.
had they been breed in a tank, then they would be tank breed.

sorry, what i wanted to say
as to hippos, many are known to be shy, they are known for hiding in the rock even ater being in the tank for a while. thye are even noted for lying upside down and sideways wedged under or in a rock. In such a position that we would swear is not right and would swear that it could even be dead.
if it is breathing and eating and looks healthy, dont worry too much about it.

razor wat size tank do you have them in cause i would like to get a tang and hippo for a 75gal. will this work

I have this one in a 90g.. Most of what I read was 100g or more for a hippo. I wouldnt see why 75g wouldnt be enough as long as they have room to swim around and lots of hiding places, and the tank isnt already loaded with fish.

Man mine does!! He was doing it just now when we got back from Easter dinner. I hate when he does that right now!! Start eating and swim some .. then you are allowed to play dead :p
