hey everyone!
I took some more pics!
So, I picked up brine shrimp and more ghost shrimp and flowered him with all the food and hes acknowledging it but not eating it.... so I was getting worried... WELL...
My bicolor blenny who is the biggest jerk ever is not eating ... no where to be found... Ive had corals die because the blenny would bite them over and over - always harrasssing. He even would bite me whenever I put my hands in the tank.
So I started taking pics and I realized that my angler has a GHETTO BOOTY! He has this big bubble that looks like a ... blenny? wrapped up in there. Holy cow he ate my adult bicolor blenny!
At least he ate I guess lol

Ha ha! Two birds with one stone!
Now, ship the frogfish to me to help me get rid of my damsels

i have had acouple different ones over the years when i was younger. if you try hard enough you can get them to eat dead foods. frozen shrimp, fish fillets, squid from the market. just takes some time. he's awesome looking !

is there anything wrong with just stocking the tank with a few fish for predatory style feeding? or is it better ultimately to give him the variety of frozens?

As in damsels? I would imagine as long as they have the right nutrients (pretty much regular feeding), it wouldn't be a problem.
However, if you're having a tough time getting him to eat frozen, it will probably only make it more difficult if he is accustomed to live feedings when the time comes to switch him over...
By the way, I went into my LFS a little while ago to pick up my new fish and I asked them how much they would want to have one of those ordered in... $400. Ouch.

And if you do decide to do that every once in a while, please record it

400 is pretty steep!!
I couldnt find one anywhere so I went to every store I could think of online and put a request to notify me when it was available.
I got the email it was available after like 4 months of waiting! And.. I was on my honeymoon in maui so I paid for it and had it shipped the day I got back home :)
I dont think Ill make the live feedings a regular thing. Im going to try to wean him to frozen foods.
If he eats my pompom crab Ill be pissed ! The pompom is pretty reclusive though. He survived when I had a 4" peacock mantis in there :)
Let us pray..

First off, congrats on the marriage!
Weaning sounds like a good idea.
And I wouldn't get your hopes up about the pom-pom. With a fish like that, he doesn't stand a chance once he comes out for food. I have no idea how he survived a mantis

I actually watched my hawkfish devour mine... Coolest and saddest thing I've ever seen.

Shrimpi,
My wife is going to be really jealous! Keep putting up shots as time progresses, I'm curious if his color will change to his surroundings or if he will stay the white and red.
That is a show quality Angler.

What I wouldn't give for my girlfriend to be jealous about ANYTHING involving fish.
...Aside from me paying them too much attention, that is.

Lots and lots of training Grabbit!

Seriously, she has a real addiction to Blasto's and Angler Fish. The only coral that shows up at my door is Zoa's, Paly's or Blasto's.

ya Im really curious to see if he changes color too. I know that they can change with thier surroundings. I found this girl once (when I first starting looking for an angler) that had one and it turned bright neon PINK! it was so awesome.
My husband enjoys the tank but he does get a little pissed when one of the fish eats the other fish lol! He says he doesnt like the whole 'top of the food chain struggle within the tank'.
How can you not appreciate SOMETHING in saltwater? lol its so beautiful!
The angler is so cool, even for girls :)

Wow!! Awesome pics. Great looking fish!!!
thank you :)
im actually a bit dissapointed with the quality of my pics. being that he is kind of a 'lurker' he is often in areas of the tank that require a flash to properly photograph.. but the flash makes him too bright in the pics because his color is naturally a chalk white.
I may have to mess with the settings on my cam to get better pics :)

only really when he is looking for food.. or at least thats what I think... Ive only had him since the 24th so Im not sure exactly.
he is pretty sedentary.. but yesterday when I put a few little chromis in the tank he scurried up to the top of the tank and set up shop :)
Ill try to pay more attention to how often he really does move.
