Recommendations for reef safe crabs

I have a 28 gallon nano reef tank. Years back on an old tank I had blue legged crabs but they ate and killed every snail in the tank. This time I bought a few red legged crabs, but they grow so large and seem to eat some snails. I tried some white legged crabs but all they did was perch on every coral, then the corals wouldn't open. Any suggestions on what type and how many.

I agree with Gemmy.
IMO, there is no such thing as a reef safe cab. I've watched Emeralds eat corals, hermits eat snails, etc. I'd rather have snails and no hermits at all. If you have hermits with snails, you're going to forever be replenishing the snails as the hermits pick them off.

i personally like having small hermits in my tanks, but the 1 i have in my nano is a mean guy. he litterally beats up everything except the fish. killed off a blood red fire shrimp that i really liked. :(

I had a pom pom crab and it never bothered anything in the tank, my next tank will have a few of them. And yes my hermits ate every snail I had!
