Red Sea Alkalinity kit.

I just purchased a read sea alkalinity test kit, and followed instructions one at a time, and after following I can not get the end color and have gone through almost 2ml of the solvent. My water keeps turning orange in the test tube, and "pink" is the "Do it again" color. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if my waters alkalinity is just that bad =. Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

I am not a fan of Red Sea kits for that reason....among others :(
When it changes to the orange use that #, and when you can get yourself a salifert kit

So my PH looks to be about 8.5... and my Alkalinity is what seems to be 4.0 or higher >.> So now my next question... how to lower the alkalinity?

if your alk is 4.0 you are good that's 11.2 dKH, better bring the Ph down though, that's a bit high

Hmm.. well, if I'm good then now I'm back to the problem of my leather coral dieing... or shedding, meow says it might be shedding. Calcium is about 450ppm, if alk 4.0 = 11.2dKH I'm ok there.. selenity is 1.025 nitrates are about .3mg/L

How often do you do water changes? What salt do you use? have you tested your phosphates?
what media do you use for filtration?

The tank was a 30g tank about 2 weeks ago, it was the one that was turning 100% green. I moved all my LR and Livestock into this 20gallon, and it has been up and running about a week now. All I did was change tanks and water, figured it wouldn't have to cycle since everything was just from the other tank? Phosphate kit? Just a tester? If so I'll pick one up when I go out later.
