HD project FTW...
remember.. if you can get a 6x6 screen in there and an 8inch pvc waterfall bar you can do a scrubber...a scrubber can't be completely submerged though.
I'll see if I can look through a RSM and come up with an idea tomorrow.

I just added some zoas into my tank and noticed there is a very small aptasia growing in the middle of them...Can i pull the zoas out of the water and get some twizzers and pluck the aptasia right off...Its smaller then a dime...
Any suggestions?
I will post pix 2morrow...

The biological filter rings keep clogging up with junk and are not allowing enough water flow to circulate through here and it's cause this area of open water to smell like the skimmer...
I recently replaced the bio filter rings with a new bag and what you know the smell went away and there was a little swirl of water in this chamber hence more flow...lol
So just wondering if i could put chaeto in this chamber? And not even deal with the biological filter rings....
I attached another photo showing the back chambers...
At #7 it gets clogged up at...
At #4 i want the chaeto in...
Oh yeah does a white sponge do anything other then collect uneaten food from your aquarium just wondering cause i would like to pull that out too...lol
I know what you mean where the #7 area regularly gets clogged. I had the same problem on my RSM. What helped for me was to do my best not to compress the bag in any way. Try to keep it as loose as you can in the bottom of that chamber.
Also, I tried once to put chaeto in that area. I too thought it was a great idea. It actually worked pretty well until it grew too thick and I had to take it out because it clogged up the flow. I think the best thing to do would be to figure out a way to put some kind of netting in there to keep the chaeto from overtaking that one chamber.

Keep the white sponge in there and replace it regularly. It does a great job of keeping more than uneaten food out of your tank. Mine regularly got brown all the way through. There were times where I'd have to change it weekly! Still not sure why though.

I wonder if i just took some of the biorings out of the bag to loosen it more so it wouldn't clog?

So last night i came home and my place was smelling like a freakn skimmer...lol

So I took the skimmer out and scrubbed the back chamber and did a 5 gallon water change and the smell went away...

I think I'm going to keep the skimmer out for awhile and see how it goes...

The pluses to no skimmer are no noise and no smell...lol

I do weekly water changes of 5 gallons so that should be fine...

Just thought i should throw this in my journal...lol
