Red Slime

I have a 12 Gallon Aquapod, with just a Peppermint Shrimp and Scarlett Hermit Crab, and I have a ton of red and green slime algae (cyano). I do monthly water changes of 5 gallons, is there anything else I can do?

YEAH...LOTS...First of all tell us about your tank...filtration, flow for examples
also water tests at what? Lighting? and hours kept on?
Maybe you should do more frequent water changes too?
What do you feed these 2 critters? How much and how often?

Tank is 12 Gallon Current Aquapod
Filtration is standard wet/dry in the back, less the bio balls.
Circulation is original pump that turns the tank over more then 10x an hour.
Ammonia and Nitrite 0ppm. Haven't tested Nitrates, but I'm sure they're up there.
And I Do Not feed the shrimp and crab.
I'm not sure it's the lack of water changes, I change almost 50% once a month. Tonight I just changed another 7-8 Gallons. I really don't plan on putting any fish back in until it goes away, I was just wondering if there was anything else that I could do. I am not up for weekly water changes, that's for sure. I will check out a fuge, but again not sure that's something I'm up for doing. Thanks.

I bought the red slime algae remover, it was rather expensive from D&S it was 18.99 per little ammount.
BUT it worked in my aquariums, with fish, corals, anemones and inverts... 2 treatments and 48 hours later, my nanos were completly clean.

Yea, I know about the Red Slimer Remover, but I also do know a couple people who have wiped out their tanks with it quickly before as well. I'm looking for somewhat of a quick fix, but one that doesn't require chemicals hopefully.

Do you have any power heads for circulation?
I do not have any powerheads in the tank except for the return pump that pumps 160 gph

Is the red slime carpet like and multiplying quickly?
It is red and dark green slime algae, and I just cleaned it 2 days ago and it is already growing back.
