it is high but not terrible...you want your calcium to be between 450-480 depending on what you are keeping....if you have some higher calcium demand stuff like some SPS or clams 500 is ok... and as long as you dont raise it that high all at once everything will adapt to it being a little bit higher than recomended

I stopped using reef crystals about a year ago and switched to TM pro readings are close to perfect twice as much money as -- but worth it

Isn't that too high?

Not if you're only doing a partial water change. If your tank water is 400ppm and you do a 50% change with water that's at 500ppm then the result will only be 450ppm.
I don't understand paying a lot more money for salt with high calcium levels when you can just add 10 cents worth of Calcium chloride to get the same result.

Just me 2 cents here .
I use -- and add nothing and my acros are growing like weeds along with everything else.
I try not to over mess with and have some things from 2005 still fragging strong.
My Powder Blue is happy too

I drip limewater 24/7 so I'm not usually concerned about the saltmix. Occationally Alkalinity and Calcium will get out of balance. To raise Calcium I use DowFlake Xtra. To raise Alkalinity I use baking soda.

I used to drip kalk on my old tank and that worked fine, but now with sps in my new tank, even with a kalk reactor and dosing a 2 part I'm having trouble keep up with the cal. demands
