well he was never happy with the way my old tank looked so dirty so along with the tank he got a wet/dry filter
"if we are gonna have a bigger tank we are gonna do it right" is what he said:D

i am really glad he did do it because of my salfin tang my friend gave me when his tank crashed. he will finally have more swimming room out of that small 55. I know salfins arnt supposed to me in anything smaller then a 125 but he was happy in the 55 and lived for two mounths so he will be even happier:joy:

Do you think you dad could buy us a 90? JK, glad to see that the family is into the tanks. I wish everyone around our house would take more of an interest. If you decide to stick with the CC, make sure its a thin layer thats easily vacuumed. JMO.

CC is fine. Each person has their own prference. As long as you vacuume it when you do water chnges the CC will be great.
I have CC in my 110 and will transfer it to the 250 as soon as I get the stand built for the new tank.
Just read up on substrates and you make the decision.

yeah, definitally get rid of CC, southdown sand from HD would be perfect, seed it from your 55 and you'll be ready in just a few short weeks

I run ~5 inches of CaribSea Aragonite in my 75. The grain size is bigger than the "sand"...
I can speak to the Nitrates... mine are undetectable!!!
you know.. like in ZERO!!
I cant say if it is better than the southdown sand but im sure the sand is much cheaper!!

Some might argue that the bigger issue than the CC is the wetdry with bioballs... But hey - different strokes...
As long as you get those micro thingies, you'll be fine..:hilarious

yellow tang got a little too close to the tube anemone

the emp got way to big and i got rid of it really fast( big demand demand for adults) I made 25 bucks:cheer: but considering all of the food cost, i think i lost money
dont worry i have some knowleg of the saltwater , just cant quite get the salfin out of the tank
plus besides the salfin i only have a flame angel and 2 damsels
