Reef temperatures

Like anything on this board, it shows that everyone's tank is unique and no generic specs can be applied. It's these generic specs that are made to help new reefers, but I feel they end up making them paranoid, causing them to constantly be hands on with the tank, doing more damage than good. Anal tweeking to line up with the specs never allows a newbie to get into a groove, but at the same time, without those specs, they would have nothing to go by. This has me talking in circles now. :notsure:
My new guidline:
You can't start a reef until you have successfully bred Discus or Tanganykan Cichlids for 2 generations.

LoL I love that

I have often thought about this myself. I keep my reef at 77 with one degree of variance before chiller comes on. I have a good mix of zoo's, lps and sps as of now and everything is very happy.

Well FYI my tank stays at 78'F with heaters and chiller working to prevent temp swings. Everything seems great.
