Sorry salty even that wont work out the right way in the end, you could pump too much out to the refuge and drain it too fast. Sw65gal and sammie said it best arldy as to why.

depends on the fuge, the ecosystem method doesn't use a skimmer, and those tanks tend to run more healthy than normal systems. but they're also running miracle mud, which is pretty much Gods gift to this hobby.

If there is even a 1 gph difference....over a few hours it will add up and either empty the fuge or overflow it.

Like all ready said, "If there is even a 1 gph difference....over a few hours it will add up and either empty the fuge or overflow it"
You can not run a fuge or sump like this, even if you get the pumps pumping the same amount it wont last very long.

he is right there, not about the overflow...but it will be way to much current...a fuge needs a gental water flow...to much and it wont do anything...remember little critters and stuff are going to be growing in there..they need to feel safe/calm...etc plus your stuff on the bottom will blow around like crazy...hence defeating its purpose
like i said before, just buy an ecosystem filter...there AMAZING.

actully it does.
what kind of system do you have golfish?....your so willing to bash my system which cost me over $9000 ...and it works better then most peoples tanks and looks better to.... is all your stuff homemade? .. i mean come on.

why would you want to run a skimmer in an ecosystem, when the miracle mud and calurpa use that product as food?...it would kill your system.. also why do ecosystems take care of themselves?...you dont have to drip trace elements. anything, soft corals life without a problem..etc.
they're extremely stable filters...also a reason why they cost around $800+ ..not like this homemade stuff....which im sure works great.....but why not atleast steal the concept of a ecosystem and save some money....

using a pump to feed a fugesump and another pump to return the flow will result in an overflow...

Dude, your spoting off about how well your system works and you've been running it how long? I never bashed your system, just asked who said it was better then using a skimmer.. You said "depends on the fuge, the ecosystem method doesn't use a skimmer, and those tanks tend to run more healthy than normal systems. but they're also running miracle mud, which is pretty much Gods gift to this hobby"
Who said the ecosystems run more healthy then a "normal system" I guess normal mean a good skimmer?
Before this goes on too long let me say this, I've been in this hobby 22 years, I've seen and done just about everything your reading about. Ummmm, I mean when it comes to reefs. I'm not sure what other things you might be into. :scared:

If you put miracle mud in your fuge instead of sand, would that mean you don't want to run a skimmer? Talking about a regular fuge/sump type system, not a store-bought ecosystem.

i dont know how a normal system works, but if your going to do the ecosystem method..i wouldn't use a skimmer, it says not to. ..also blenny...i was freaked out about buying the mud at first to..but ...it actully does what it says...my water levels are amazing. and everyone seems to love it (fish that is)
