My reef tank specs: 125 gal. salinity 1.023, temp 77, ph 8.2, cal 400, three metal hals. I hve varrious soft corals and five hard corals. A nice assortment of fish and clean up critters. My question is about the benifits of adding a refugium. My CONCERN is this "mini cycle" I keep reading about and what it would do to my tank?

Adding a refugium will NOT cause the tank to mini cycle or cycle at all. With those corals though I would slowly bump up your S.G. to 1.026.

I used to keep the sg at 1.026 but everything did not look happy in the tank. At the sg I have now all corals are growing like weeds.

Have you had your hydrometer calibrated?
