What size is the container? How much light is available for the algae?

its going to be a 10gallon (MT is a 55gal) and i will be gettin some T-5 HO for it in the net month or so, or what would be a good light for a refugium.

That's great for the Refugium.
I'd suggest 1/2" of live sand, a single piece of live rock, and a fist sized piece of Chaetomorpha (stretched out) to start the refugium.
If your Tang doesn't develop a taste for Chaeto then Caulerpa serulata is always a favorite.
Very few Tangs are compatible with a four foot tank so choose wisely.
