I just received an update on my stingray....remember the one I brought to Jenks Aquarium in OK when she got too big for my tank..I MISS HER :(

I inquired about the red around her edges, and they e-mailed me back telling me that they had just done physicals on al lthe rays last Thursday...the Biologist, and OSU vets took skin and blood samples, and did an all over body insepction
here are some pics they sent me of how they do that

let us know what they found out
OH...sorry Joe....I may have been misleading....the red is from the tests...not cause they were sick....apparently every so often they do compete physicals on all the rays...which includes skin scrapes and bloodwork.
I did ask him if all the Rays were healthy, and for a little more details on how often they do these tests, but I have not yet heard back from him

OK...I just received this answer
Yes, all of them were just fine. This is something we do on occasion to most of our larger animals as a health check. When we do this we sometimes let other institutions help us to further partnerships and research.

Well, can't say I like treatment that results in so much trauma....especially on an animal that is not sick..
Oh well.

Doctors are always "practicing" medicine. Poking and probing is how they learn. IMO a small price to pay for a safe environment and plenty of food. Was that her in the net or just a picture in general?
