So, anyone catch Cyndi McCain tonight? She said something to the effect of: We need to take off our Republican hats and put on our American hats. Shouldn't these be one in the same? Is she that rich and disconnected?
(note: I didn't actually see her speak, so I apologize if the media lies...happens all the time. I just saw a clip between hurricane coverage)
I don't think it is a "bad thing" to say, simply reminding people that their loyalty lies with the country not the party.
I do however thing that many on both sides choose party or themselves first. You can look at the arguments they use to defend their positions. If they are particularly weak, or just stupid.
For instance, remember when Iraq wasn't looking rosy. The democrats jumping on the bandwagon saying stuff like. "iraq is lost" or calling our troops murderers and rapists. (when I think all of them were aquitted.) How can calling a war lost be "good for the country" and not the party?
