ro/di and saltwater mixing station

Hi first time posting but have been lurking for quite awhile lol. I have a question about my mixing station build. I have 4 55 gallon drums i'm using, 2 for ro water the other 2 for salt. my question: if i connect both ro water drums with a bulkhead near the bottom of each and pvc will they both fill with my ro line in the first drum? I am thinking they would fill together equally but before i make any holes I'd like to be sure. thanks for any help you can give me.

Yes, with a hole at the bottom connecting them they will both fill equally and simultaneously.

If you do the same with your salt tanks and put a small pump in the center of the PVC line then run a connecting line of PVC between the two at the top like an over-flow with no pump you should be able to keep the salinity balanced between the two. Make the over-flow a bigger diameter.

Just like setting up a display tank with a sump only side by side and your using drums instead. When you use the saltwater for changes take it out of the drum receiving the water from the pump. The drum getting the water pulled out of it by the pump will drop in level and that's the one you refill with fresh r/o and salt for mixing. Just don't forget to have powerheads or circulating pumps in both drums and keep the bottom connecting PVC about 6 inches from the bottom of the drums so that pump doesn't get plugged up with sediment.

Just a late night thought but I could be way off base. I'm going back to bed now.

I have 2 pan world 30 pumps so I hooked a pump to each drum. Overkill I know but if one setup goes bad I have the other I can still use. Then both sides meet in the middle with a cross fitting and union ball valves so 1 line goes to my sump the other I can get water right there for my q tank which sits between the top two drums:sad:

One little leak at a union replaced the o ring and its perfect. Surprised the he'll outta me it worked. Now if my tank is ready on Wednesday like I was told I'll be happy lol
