RO/DI Filter Change

Anyone know when its best to change RO/DI filters. A TDS reading of 0 ppm of course is the ideal measure, but is it necessary to spend the money to buy filters if the reading is 10 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm? Where is the cut-off? Thanks!

I just changed mine and the tds read 4
I would not let it get above that. I have also had the unit for a year now.

If I knew it was just a little nitrates, say, that would be one thing..... but it could be anything coming down that pipe.
And if people go nuts over peeps using treated tapwater.... they otta be going nuts over the 2ppm of untreated cootie water going in their tank!

I have not had issues with my reef tank and my ro/di output is around 30, but i also have over 370 comming in. I have heard that as long as its not over 10 percent of the incomming it should be fine. was I misled? or have I just been lucky? I do now have a slight cyno outbreak, but my lighting is getting old, and this is my first outbreak in over a year. My tds output had always hovered around 20-30 out for as long as I have owned the unit. My water is pretty bad to begin with.
