Ro/Di waste water

I was wondering what you guys do with you waste water from your Ro/Di units. Is it drinkable, or useful for anything else? I really just feel wasteful just tossing that water down the drain, so to speak.

Mine goes into my pool when it's not frozen. In the winter it just goes down the drain.
It is drinkable. It can be used to wash clothes, water plants, etc.

I would feel wastefull too if I let it all go =P. Just because an RO/DI unit rejects water, doesnt mean theres anything wrong with it....at that point its just tap water. Its usefull for just about anything that tap water is. If you have well water by chance, you could possibly have the excess drain into your well.
Question here, not trying to hijack your thread...but if a 90gpd unit has a rejection rate of 90%, does that mean that at the end of the day 900 gallons have passed through the unit and you now have 90 gallons of ro/di water left? or that 90 gallons have passed through the unit and you now have 9 gallons of ro/di water at the end of the day.

In your scenario you would end up with 90 gallons of RO and 810 gallons of waste water.

I use twin 75 RO units which saves a little. The waste from the first feeds the second one and the outputs are teed together into the DI.

Thanks everyone. It is kind of shocking what we will do for a few gallons of clean water for our reefs sometimes.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but reefraff are you boosting the pressure to the 2nd membrane? I was under the impression or thought I had read somewhere about doing such a thing, but pressure would have to be bumped up to make it efficient????? Any pics?

No boost. Just moved the waste restrictor to the second RO unit and works fine. I timed the beast and it's producing about 145 gallons per day. You have to have fairly high water pressure for these systems to work, above 60 I think. Ours runs about 80 so it's happy. Don't have a pic but you can see the parts at the filter guys website under "water saver"

Define efficient. You can run just a DI and not waste any water. The issue there is cost.
