rock problems

we setting up our first saltwater tank and we found some rocks that are called reef rocks and we wanted to know if there was a difference in reef rocks and live rocks

Are they dry or in a tank with circulating water?

they are dry the cost is 50.00 for 50 lbs
whats the difference between the reef rock and live rock besides the price are there any benefits to using live rock?

Live rock will have critters, various algae as well as a variety of beneficial bacteria living in it. If your dry "reef rock" came from a previous aquarium I would avoid it unless you know all the specifics like what medications and additives were used.

I'd go with the live rock thats what i've got in my tank.. its pretty good.. if does what the filter does.. kinda filters the water and such..

I'd buy both. Use the reef rock as a base and the LR will eventually make it all LR over time.
