Rock Skipper

Hiya,
I think I red that this is a dragonette and not a gobie. Do they need the same requirements of a manderin? Will they eat frozen, processed or flaked food?
I really like these guys....not as much as the manderins, but I'd like to give them a try if possible.

Duke, I don't hav a picture or a link. I thought folks would be familiar with this fish and be able to answer the question without those items.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the name 'rock skipper'. To me, that would describe a lot of fish in the Goby, Blennie, and Dragonet family.

Hiya,
Okay...it's called a scooter blenny. There's a picture of it on this website. The site said they're part of the dragonette family, but not how hard it is to keep them.
Any advice? I'm trying to pick my fish for my tank and since I can't do a manderine I was hoping for one of these little guys.

Scooter Blennys are awesome fish, they're so fun to watch.
Before considering a scooter, you should have a well establish tank with lots of live rock and a lot of copepods/amphipods. These 'pods' need a lot of live rock to reproduce. As far as I know, the Scooter doesn't eat pods exclusively, unlike the Mandarin fish. You can get away with also feeding them live brine and some worms. They also eat Microfauna. They are reef safe and usually get along with most. I'm not sure if you can have more than one in a tank though.

Hiya,
Sigh..Sounds like they won't make it in a 37 gallon newly set up tank.
Oh, well, one of these days I'll have a tank big enough for either a scooter or a manderine. Though...don't tell the hubby this!

I've got a scooter blennie in a 29gal tank and it's doing great. I have 25lbs of live rock on a crushed coral substrate. The tank has only been set up for about 8 weeks and he has been in it for 6. He is a blast to watch. He likes to cruise around and munch on the live rock but he also eats shrimp pellets like they are going out of style.
