RODI

so i bought an RODI Unit from my LFS. and I was told which lines to use... and well now I'm super confused. I was told that the blue line is the feed line, the yellow line is the safe water, and the black line is the bad water.
can you please confirm by this picture, i don't want to waste my time filling bad water into the tank.

Well ud have to get a TDS meter and test the water of each to see...
theyre not spendy of nothin...maybe get a pressure gauge too! 50-60psi is wat i do.
Does the blue line have a hose or sink adapter or do u plump it under the sink?
The purest water will prob have the least amount of water coming out! It'll be a slower drip or slower flow than ur waste line.... dont know why i didnt think of that 1st! LOL
the other things are good though so u know when to change ur media!

Thats the problem i don't know the brand or model. I tasted both waters and neither of them had any distant difference.
the black line seems to be slower coming out, but it could be my sight. any other luck?

well put 2 cups or buckets or something and watever one fills up slower is ur RO water! Dont look like an RO/DI unit to me but it could be i guess... can u get a pic of the lower filters?

You're really going to need a TDS meter to be sure.
I have really good tap water to begin with so my waste and good water rates are almost even, I might get 1-2 gallons more of waste than good over 25 gallons.
Did you buy this unit used? If so, replace all the filters

I purchased this unit brand new. The black definitely is slower then the yellow. Its a 50gpd unit. and my tank is 125 gallons and is half full. Draining tank now. and putting black line in tank.
Ive only had the unit for about 4 hours... I think 80 gallons in 4 hours is excessive.

Ya im thinkin thats just an RO unit...
+1 on the TDS meter...their like $30...pressure gauge is another $6

Agreed. Some of us even filled our tanks with tap, you're fine.
I was thinking the same thing about no instructions, which is why I asked if it was used.

Since it's fish only, I really wouldn't stress about this tonight. The tank still will need to cycle anyways. Pick up a TDS meter before using it on a reef, but fir initial fill up of a fish only, don't even worry about it.

ACTUALLY I tgake back what I said about the white thing on top being the DI.....LOL....It's most likely the membrane DUHHHHH
and I am gonna say you have just an RO unit....STILL.....better then nothing...and better then buying from the store.....I think you can always add a DI cartridge later

Do any of you suggest since it is fish only to just use tap water to fill, and do a few water changes over a period of a few weeks before adding fish?

It aerating is usually enough, and through a cycle, it's fine. I use Prime when using tap water. I've never used Stability, so I can't really comment on it.
