Do any of you suggest since it is fish only to just use tap water to fill, and do a few water changes over a period of a few weeks before adding fish?


You could, but you have the unit now....
To be honest, I use tap to start my fish only tanks, but I also have really good tap water.

The Stability is basically a bacteria used in the initial cycle of a tank. Not good for removing the chlorine in tap water, be advised though, tap water does contain Nitrates and your system will have nitrates in there. As BTLDreef pointed out, Prime would be your best choice, read the instructions carefully, too much is bad, and plug your nose.

YEAH...since you have the unit....you might as well use it....will take a little longer, BUT better in the long run

I have a unit just like yours, the black IS your waste water, the blue is the good water (If the unit was set up right). If that had not been clarified.
