So you don't have to do the water thing in the bag??? Just when it is the same temp put it in?

When you are an experienced "old salt" and know your tank and its parameters, as well as the parameters of which the animal in, and if you believe that they are similar, then its usually OK but blanket statements such as
anenomes just shouuld be temp acclimated,
can often be dangerous to newer hobbyists that dont know any better.
I do agree that many people over acclimate but there are so many factors involved with different animals. Sometimes overaclimating in a bucket with little to no water movement will allow the pH to drop too much, or the temp can drop in the bucket or ,,, or.,..
But sometimes we need to do more than temp acclimate even if you believe that the parameters are alike. Especially with animals that have been shipped improperly ( IE: more water than air) the pH of the water in the bag will be low and need to be "acclimated".
I have no Idea of whats going on with the anemone in this thread, but my guess is that it was doomed from the get go

alright then, so lets spin this. knowing that we've had an established tank for close to 18 months and water params are ideal, when we get another one from the LFS that has poor water compared to ours, do we temp acclimate and go or do we drip acclimate??
Jon - i know you do a quick 1/4 cup acclimate 3 or 4x with Wet Pets - have you ever had any problems with that?

Do you have any other anemones in that tank? If so, the two anemones could have been fighting with chemical warfare (toxins) and that would explain the fish death, too.

A lot of that would depend on what is actually making thes store water bad. pH and temp are the 2 biggest things to be concerned with. Often those are the 2 things that are getting worse with long acclamations and needt to be monotored if using a long acclimation.
If you water is in good shape and close to the store water (not water that has been in a bag for over 24 hrs), I would do similar to jons method.. replacing a little of the water in the bag every 5-10 minutes for 20-40 minutes.. Maybe 10% of the water in the bag on the first replacement.. 25% on the second....
I dont always acclimate in the same manner.. Circumstances will always be different. Sometimes a longer acclimation is necessary, and there have been times when I have felt that I needed to get the animal out of the bag ASAP and into a comfortable surrounding.
