Congrats! He does look pretty cool even though I'm kinda afraid of them

The red background...awesome!

I'm wanting one so bad, but I'm worried of it breaking the glass, there are horror stories about pistol, and mantis shrimp breaking aquarium glass...but thts glass...not acrylic...hmm...maybe...but kickass tank!!!

Ok, I have a very dumb question. Let's say I buy one, he breaks my tank, would he run around wild in my apartment and probably break my bones while I sleep? Or would he die second/minutes after he goes out of the water? Just want to make sure...

Hahaha one of our friends was telling us he could not sleep in the same place with it cause he was worried it would get out and hurt him in his sleep... I would think it would be pretty much done for if it got out of the water... But if I do not show up for over a week.. We will know it can live a few hours with out water..... Hehehe

how big do they get, and would one fit in a 10gal tank SAFELY!?
A peacock needs a 30gal but you can do a 20 gal long as long as it has room to swim side to side. They can get very large. Mine is a 28gal. A 10gal you might be able to get another kind of Mantis I think but not 100% sure *but not a peacock* You will have to look into it and do some research. Ask some of the others that keep other kinds of mantis. Best of luck!!

I was at 1st. But I had to move a rock a snail knocked over that was up on the glass * I know the snail wont make it most likely * But he was on the other side of the tank and I just said oh well and stuck my hand in there he could of cared less. He didnt even care I was in the tank.. He is still new tho so I wont be doing that again.

I put a crab in there and so far he could really care less. The crab hides in his den with him. But if I put a small bit of raw shrimp in there he is all over it and eating it.. I know once he gets use to the tank most likely the crab is gone. But so far he is very quiet and keeps to himself. He is still new tho. It is a blast to sit back and watch.. He is always out and about. Silly to watch. We have the tank in our living room so we can see him all the time. And I do not know if it is cause he is new or not but he is always out and walking around and picking up rocks and swiming to one side of the tank with the rock. Then 10mins grabs it again and swims it back to where he found it.

Ya, that's normal. He thinks he likes it, brings it over, and then decides it doesn't fit with his plan.... just yet.
