nice little tank you got going on, kinda cool to see something different being done.
those mantis are mean little suckers, one of them took a swipe at my girlfriends finger against the glass. guess that was my fault, i told her to tap on the glass, lol.
very cool though, best of luck

alright got some more rubble for the little brat. also added some zoos. kicking around the idea of fraging some of my zoos and stuff and adding them to the tank to bring in some color not this weekend but the next. I took off sometime from work *b-day weekend* and just wanted to kick it and watch football. and mess around with the tanks. so i have fri, sat, sun, mon off woo hoo.. so hoping to be able to add some frags and if i get any cash for the bday get some more corals

hahaha start up a mantis tank nwdry!! come on it will be fun!!! that is one thing about this hobbie.. it NEVER ends... you always want more and bigger and ect... haha hubby is greatful we are in apt and not a house yet.. if we where not in this apt i would have alot more tanks and larger!!!!! the hubby named him. i thought it was cute and fit him!
**Thank you**
Whisk you are just as bad as my hubby!!! we went to the store to get a fire shrimp for my 24gal and we saw the peacock and he was sitting there playing around tapping the glass and moving his finger around on the glass and all i heard was a SMACK... i jumped and looked over and yelled at him to stop messing with it then i saw it was a peacock and fall in love... so that is when i started looking around for a tank and such.. got everything set up and called the place where we saw him at and they still had him... Yaaa!! and now he is home with us!
like i said above i will be adding some corals. want it kinda reef like but not alot.. just a tiny bit...
again thank you everyone for your comments!! it is nice to be able to share everything with everyone here and get comments back on what i am doing and such.. THANK YOU!!!!!

some photos from tonight...
took a video but it is not that great i might upload it later this weekend if i can not get a better one..

Well we threw in a hermit and a emerald the 1st day we got him *hubby wanted too*. They where pretty much gone with in a few mins. And today I cut up a raw shrimp threw it in the tank and he came out with in a a few secs and it is now gone. So hoping down the road he will still eat raw shrimp and once in awhile I might throw a crab in there. He is a happy lil guy he is always changing his den. Moving rocks around all day long.

Emeralds must be cheaper where you live - here they are $10ea (not a fortune but still pretty pricey to be feeding with) I've heard that some people use empty snail shells and "stuff" them with shrimp or other seafood to make it more interesting for the mantis, I wonder if your guy would like that?

the stores by me has them for 3.99 to 7.99. And the hermits around 2.99 to 7.99. We will not feed him live stuff all the time. I will have to try that with the raw shrimp. I have a few empty shells in there right now. I threw in another half of a raw shrimp and he came out and it was gone in the matter of secs again. I am so happy so far he is not being picky. But yea next feeding time I will have to try the shrimp in a shell..
Thank you for the info!

i just saw a video in my marine biology class its called ''fastest claw in the west'' you should watch it, its about mantis shrimp obviously.

Ok small update since I have not been on here that much.. Sorry about that.. BamBam is doing great he is about 5inchs now. And his colors are brighter then ever. I will have to snap a few photos and upload them and post them sometime tomr. We have a small damsel in there. He has been in there since Jan. BamBam so far dose not seem to care about the fish. So far so good.. Just been fighting the red slime... Blah..

Photos soon!

Well cause of work and such I never got to post any type of photos.. But the main reason I am posting this is we lost BamBam...
We are not sure what happened or how. We found him in his tube on his side... Everything test fine and the damsel is fine.. So we are thinking maybe age... Still not sure what we will be doing at this time with the tank.. Once we have made up our minds I will let everyone know what is going on.. Thank you for all your post and input on his tank...
This weekend if I am feeling better *Since I am battling a bad cold* I will clean up the tank and throw some hermits in there and such since now they will not be food.. And let the tank sit for awhile..
