How exactly was the "Russian Federation" attacked when Georgia tried to put down a Seperatist movement within their own borders?
As for Poland... Are you a KGB agent? That's about the only thing I can come up with that explains your bizarre logic. So the USA needs to base our defense strategy on getting approval from the Soviets?

In fact, Russia should give Georgia back to the Georgians based on this logic...

Brilliant, I guess I wouldn't be against the US giving back texas to Texas, you know that sovereign nation that defeated mexico and formed it own country. Maybe you should have paid attention in history class... The USA didn't take Texas from anyone.
Why the clear prejudice against an area of the country that still has it right?

The Russian Federation took south ossetia and is probably going to overthrow Georgia and rule it, probably going to assassinate Georgia's leader and there is nothing USA can do about it, deal with it. Bush is mostly talk, go obama

So how does that equate to Iraq? What a liberal is saying bush is talk, while obama is action?

im just a bush hater, but to be honest im not all to big on obama either, IMO i believe he is way to liberal, I really wanted rudy giuliani to run as republican because i think he is a good mix between both. but i am not big on mccain at all, mainly because i dont support the war.

I'm confused... You've been arguing South Ossetia was part of Russia. Now Russia is "taking" it?
There is quite a bit we can do, actually. All it will require is for the American people to be willing to stand up and not be a bunch of spineless cowards. Russian nukes are not a threat; We've got enough to negate them using any of theirs. Our naval forces could easily create new swf habitat with the Russian fleet. Our air power could sweep the skies of the aging Soviet Migs. Further, our missile and air power could create miles of smoldering ruins where convoys once were.
More practically, however, NATO can impose sanctions on Russia and watch as their economy descends back into a depression (like in the mid 90's when you stood in line for hours for a food ration once a month.)

So did Rudy. McCain and rudy are basically the same candidate policy wise.

Get real on Iraq, face it, either candidate is going to have the same policy. B/C unless obama is mad he isn't going to retreat meaning that Iraq is overrun by whoever. And if they can leave (with it being perceived as a victory) they'd both pull out. Obama's threshold will be a bit less, but not much. Listen to the guy, he's has vacillated to every position out there, pitching to his kook fringe base, to saying, he'll have to see. Back to 16 months.

we would never attack The Russian Federation in the near future, Georgia was in the wrong, they fired mortars at The Russian Federation citizens, so The Russian Federation protected them and is going to most likely assassinate the Georgian president for attacking them, no harm, if you had the chance you would assassinate Bin Ladin wouldn't you? and good luck sanctioning them, If we sanction them that cancels the deal we had with them and they could then turn and sell nukes to terrorist and what not. + oil would go up

Russia is currently on schedule to sell over 6 billion dollars in weapons to some rather unsavory countries already (including Iran... remember those nuclear "power" plants).
Once again, comparing the President of a Democracy (Georgia) to Bin Laden is absurd.
You keep talking about Georgia attacking Russian citizens without addressing the Russian "citizens insurgent movement within Georgia that was the target of the attack.
If oil prices go up short term so be it. With sanctions in place Russia would starve. North Korea, China, Iran and Pakistan (the countries most likely to buy weapons) don't have the capacity to feed Russia.

Truth is, Georgia was annexed by Russia 200 years ago, and they regained their freedom 20 years ago when the USSR fell. Yes, the USA is attempting to build strength in these new, democratically minded countries (former USSR oppressed states). They are our new allies as the geo-political face of the world shifts. We know we can't count on many of our former allies, such as the French, Spanish, Germans, so we have been making new ones....new allies who actually have backbones....and putting in place plans to defend them.
Does it have to do with the Middle East situation? Yes.
Does it have to do with the Russian Fed? Of course it does. And so? Russia has never been an alley (actually they have been our biggest enemy).
Russia is potentially more a thread to us and our security than Bin Ladin and his cohorts ever were. This situation is big, people, and I hope that our dysfunctional government doesn't wimp out.

I think I'll stay out of this one.

The one and only thing that Russia understands is American military might. They do not give one whit about any so called negotiated cease fires or other "agreements".
Our country must stay strong and ready. This is no time to whimp out. Remember this come election day.

And remember which candidate for months has been saying not getting Georgia into NATO was going to end badly.
We need to push to get the Ukraine into NATO immediately.
