Sad day for my Squamosa.......

Last night while I was staring at the tank.........
One of my Scarlet Hermits decided to drop off of one of the higher rocks right into the opening on my Squamosa Clam.
I tried to react as quickly as I saw it but, the Squammy closed up immediatley on the hermit. I put a little bit of pressure onto the shell trying to open it but, a 5" Squamosa is not going to budge with anything less than a backhoe. :(
The clam was closed up all night long and finally started to open up this morning.....not enough to where I could see anything though. I just called my wife at home ( I don't like working Saturdays by the way! ) and she said that the clam was nearly all the way open and most of it looked like it was sliced to pieces. :(

Oh nooooo! That's terrible Rye :(
I feel really bad for you. With a LOT of luck I hope your clam recovers.

There is no recovery. :(
I came home and the clam has been decimated. It is totally dead.
I should have just burned that $100 bill while I had the chance. :(

Sorry to hear about the loss Ryan....I'm always keeping a close eye on my squamosa. So far its done great and I'd hate for a accident to cause the loss of mine.:(

bummer Rye, that looks terrible. The first clam I bought was a squammy and I lost him due to lack of knowledge. Hopefully my crocea makes it.

Oh man, that looks awful. I'm so sorry. I got rid of my hermits a long time ago. They just didn't seem worth the trouble they caused, even inadvertantly. BTW is that a little green hat your yellow clown goby is wearing? (just trying to give a little comic relief)

I checked it and it had actually spiked a little bit........nothing a 5% water change couldn't fix though. :(
