Sad Day

Came home from church to find that one of my clownfish was missing. I looked all over and the overflow. When I looked in my sump, finally found her in the first tray.
It's a sad day in our house. We had the overflow covered, but somehow she still fell in there.

I know, I'm bummed out. I bought the clownfish together and they really got along well. My husband had cut part of an egg crate and covered the top of the overflow after our firefish jumped in there. (We were able to rescue it in time.) But it still got in. I'm thinking about covering the hole in the overflow that leads to the sump with some kind of mesh to try to prevent any more casualties. Any ideas on what I could use?

I'm sorry to hear this loss as well... It really sucks about this part of our hobby.
