salinity levels

I would hope this person has by now decided on what salinity level to go with......original question was asked in Jan of 2003

Natural seawater is 1.026 which is where my reef stays. Why would you want it any different?

That's not technically true. Average Seawater has a salinity of about 35ppt but the Specific gravity varies a lot depending on the temperature of the water.
If you only have a hydrometer then I agree that 1.026 is a good Specific Gravity to maintain.
