What did you add to your tank? If it was just salt, take some water out of the tank and add fresh RO water to the tank and then check your salt level.

Do you mean your salinity reading on your hydrometer or refractometer is too high?
If so, it will only go down by diluting it with fresh water. Its always a good idea to mix your water in a seperate container so you can check everything before you put in into your tank. The cloudiness will get better as your filters run. Again, it is important to rinse everything before putting into the tank. It takes forever to clean your sand, but it is important to do so as there is just so much sediment/powdery stuff whatever you want to call it, mixed in.
Are you buying your water or using tap water or an RO unit?

If I was you I would buy myself a refractometer and an Ro di system, because tap water is not that good for a saltwater tank. I don't know where you live but where I live I would never use tap water for my tank. But anyway just take out some water from your tank and add fresh water back in until you have the right salt level, good luck with your tank.

Hydrometers are not accurate. Bring a sample to your LFS. If the SG is high then just pull some out and add more fresh. Please think about getting a refractometer or a glass hydrometer. Tap water is not the best to use in salt systems. Think about getting a RO/DI unit or buying water from the store.
